Rev. L. Cuttino Alexander

Founding Pastor

Rev. Cuttino Alexander (pronounced “CUT-no”) has served on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2017. A Minister of Word and Sacrament in the ELCA, he is deeply committed to advocacy, community engagement, and building affirming ministries.

Originally from North Carolina, Cuttino studied history and Russian at UNC-Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar. He served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the country of Georgia, working with non-profits supporting homeless youth and refugees. He later returned to Georgia for his seminary internship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia.

A graduate of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, Cuttino received the national David H. C. Read Preacher/Scholar Award and has contributed to Sundays and Seasons: Preaching and the Day1 radio program. He is a vocal advocate for racial justice, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and gun violence prevention, earning the 2023 Equality Award from Gulf Coast Equality.

In 2021, he was commissioned as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, serving at Keesler Air Force Base.
